An 8-year-old boy was brutally stabbed and murdered allegedly by his mother’s boyfriend when the couple fought on Thursday evening.

An 8-year-old boy was stabbed and brutally murdered allegedly by his mother’s boyfriend when the couple fought on Thursday evening.

THE LITTLE BOY WAS DECLARED DEAD IN HIS OWN HOME

According to Captain Malcolm Pojie, the little boy had already succumbed to multiple injuries, including stab wounds to his body, when police arrived on the scene.

He said police found what they believe is the murder weapon, a knife, inside the residence. The knife was handed in as evidence.

It is believed the mother of the 8-year-old boy and her boyfriend fought on Thursday evening.

Pojie said the couple turned up at the Thembalethu SAPS Community Service Centre on Thursday, at about 18:30, with the disturbing allegations that the 23-year-old boyfriend had killed the 8-year-old boy.

Police were immediately dispatched to the house, where they made the gruesome discovery.

The 8-year-old Imange Jantjies was declared dead on the scene.

The boyfriend was immediately arrested and is currently in detention.

He faces a charge of murder and is expected to appear in the Thembalethu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 23 August 2021.

“The circumstances of this senseless murder are being investigated, and all effort will be made to keep the suspect incarcerated for a very long time.”

The Eden Cluster Commander, Maj Gen Oswald Reddy has already instructed that bail must be opposed at all cost.

He further condemned acts of violence and gender-based violence in general aimed against our most vulnerable, our women and children, in the strongest form possible.

“This, on the backdrop of observing Women’s Month that has been designed to honour and affirm the pivotal role women play in society.”
