This is perhaps the very definition of ‘rough justice’. A hijacking suspect was left in a heap by the roadside on Wednesday, after his would-be victim decided to turn the tables and fight back against a group of criminals.

According to road safety agency Arrive Alive, the incident took place in Randburg, Gauteng. Several suspects are thought to have been involved in the attempted hijacking, but a struggle ensued – and the driver’s course of evasive action paid dividends.

The target pulled away from danger… at any cost necessary. In trying to escape the situation, the person behind the wheel MOWED DOWN one of the attackers. Proving that there’s no honour amongst thieves, the rest of the gang fled the scene without their buddy.

A photo of the injured hijacking suspect, lying helplessly on the tarmac with his face obscured, has been doing the rounds of social media. On Wednesday morning, Arrive Alive issued a brief statement on the issue, revealing more about the other carjackers.

“Attempted hijacking on Lange Ave, Quellerina, Randburg. The victim ran over one of the suspects, who has been detained during the attempt. Accomplices fled in a white BMW X3, no registration has been obtained as of yet.”

The injured male was detained by police, but it’s understood he has suffered some substantial injuries. However, sympathy certainly remains in short supply online, with Twitter users remaining non-plussed about the welfare of the hijacking suspect:
