LOOK: Funeral HALTED after ‘dead’ woman bangs on her coffin door

Every now and then there’s a story so wild, it is hard to actually believe – and this is one of them: Mourners at a funeral got a lot more than what they bargained for just recently when the “deceased” woke up and banged on her own coffin.

According to Daily Star, Rosa Isabel Cespedes Callaca, a woman from Peru, was set to be laid to rest during a service in the city of Lambayque just last week. It’s not every day that people witness a resurrection at a funeral, so mourners now have a pretty interesting story to tell at dinner parties.

LO AND BEHOLD… A RESURRECTION

When Callaca’s relatives carried the coffin ahead of the service, they started hearing strange sounds coming from inside. They then lowered it and opened the lid to find her alive and peering at them.

Cemetery caretaker Juan Segundo Cajo is quoted as having said: “[She] opened her eyes and was sweating. I immediately went to my office and called the police.”

Still inside her coffin, the relatives then took her to a hospital where she was hooked up to a life-support machine by medics. But it turns out Callaca was too weak and her condition deteriorated before she died just several hours later.

Her family has expressed outrage at the fact that she was initially declared dead. The woman’s aunt is quoted as having told local journalists: “We want to know why my niece reacted yesterday, when we were taking her to be buried… We have the videos in which she pushes and touches the coffin”

They believe she may have actually been in a coma when paramedics actually thought she had died.

Callaca was involved in a horrific road crash which claimed the lives of her brother-in-law and left her nephews with some serious injuries.
