Many of you will know Mr. Bundu from his Tshovhilingana Soapie days. Since the new millennium, the well-known comedian and actor has been a huge name in the Venda entertainment scene. However, the performer will now live in infamy, after he was jailed for TEN YEARS.

Who is Mr. Bundu? Limpopo comedian sent down for GBV

The Sibasa Regional Court handed down the punishment last week, and they were more than justified in condemning Mr. Bundu – real name Ntambudzeni Rasendedza – after revealing his rap sheet. The 40-year-old has also been awaiting trial in police custody since 2020.

He was found guilty on charges including attempted murder, kidnapping, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against his ex-girlfriend. Make no mistake, he conducted a campaign or terror against the suffering partner, and many of his actions were beyond deplorable.

  • Mr. Bundu used both a wooden stick and an electric cable to beat his then-girlfriend, back in 2019.
  • The comedian also ‘dripped burning plastic’ over her body, leaving the woman in agony.
  • It’s understood that the convicted entertainer LOCKED her in his house for two weeks straight.
  • In another deranged attack, Mr. Bundu assaulted the victim with a rock, breaking her leg in the process.
  • The NPA report he further ‘tore up her clothes’, ‘left her naked’, or ‘forced her to use a bucket as a toilet’ after some attacks
  • He put up a rather feeble defence in court, arguing his ex ‘actually hurt herself’. The judge didn’t buy it, though.

‘A serious and prevalent offence’

With this being a crass and clear example of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), local prosecutors have come down hard on the Limpopo-based comedian. As per the NPA, this sentence should now send out a warning to any other abusive partners.

“In aggravating the sentence, the Regional Prosecutor argued that the offence was serious and prevalent in the court‘s area of jurisdiction. The prosecutor said the accused should be sentenced to direct imprisonment, to send out a clear message to would-be offenders.” | NPA statement
