Eskom provided a load shedding forecast for the week ahead on Sunday afternoon, 5 March, and said Stage 4 and 3 power cuts would be in place until further notice.

STAGE 4 AND 3 LOAD SHEDDING

Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Sunday until 5:00 on Monday. Then, power cuts will be reduced to Stage 3 until 16:00, when Stage 4 kicks in again.

“This pattern of Stage 3 and 4 will be repeated until further notice,” said the power utility. Eskom said a further update would be provided if there are any significant changes.

BREAKDOWNS AND DELAYS

As things stand, 17 340MW of generating capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns, while a further 5645MW is offline for planned maintenance.

A generating unit each at Duvha and Kriel Power Stations returned to service over the past 24 hours, while a generating unit each at Camden, Duvha, Majuba and two units at Kriel went down during the same period.

“The return to service of a generating unit each at Hendrina, Meduoi and Tutuja power stations was delayed. In addition, the repairs to the damaged towers from Cahora Bassa are taking longer than anticipated,” said Eskom.
