The South African Weather Service has issued a warning that parts of the country may experience some rather severe, cold, weather conditions this weekend from 27 to 29 August.
And now Eskom has warned us that we not only be in for some extremely snowy, cold and miserable weather across Mzansi but that we could also possibly face some of those rather inevitable power outages, which often come with extreme weather conditions. The county’s power utility has therefore urged us to prepare by downloading its high tech fault reporting chatbot. This will ensure that should you have an outage during the bad weather to will easily be able to report the electricity fault.
“Severe weather often affects power systems and may cause unplanned power interruptions.  We urge affected customers to be patient and to treat all
electricity appliances as live during this time,” the parastatal warned in a statement on Thursday night.
“Eskom would like to appeal to the customers to save the link to Eskom’s fault reporting Chatbot, Alfred, at https://alfred.eskom.co.za/chatroom/ before the weather sets in,” Eskom said.
“Alfred will assist with logging electricity faults and giving immediate feedback, without having to call the contact centre. The Chatbot is quicker, responsive and is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can give customers feedback too,” Eskom said.
Alternatively, Eskom said that its customers can download the MyEskom Customer App, which is available on the Google Play Store and the iPhone App Store.
The App allows users to log a fault and immediately provides a reference number needed to track progress on their fault. Click on the following link to download the MyEskom Customer App: https://www.eskom.co.za/CustomerCare/Pages/AppSelfService.aspx.
“To report a fault, you need to provide your meter or account number,” Eskom added.
