The son of former President Jacob Zuma has reportedly instructed ‘loyal supporters’ of his father to block the entrance to the Nkandla homestead.

ZUMA: ENTRANCE TO NKANDLA HOMESTEAD BLOCKED

This comes after several journalists following the police have reported that police are making their way to the homestead.

The supporters are in contravention of the lockdown regulations as the curfew restriction does not permit them to be outside at this time.

It seems like Edward has taken charge of the situation unfolding outside the homestead.

He was earlier seen inspecting three vehicles that approached the gates before allowing the vehicles to enter. It is not clear who is inside the cars.

Edward Zuma earlier again said he would not allow his father to be arrested.

To prevent Zuma from being arrested, Edward Zuma reportedly said that they have beefed up security around the former president’s homestead in Nkandla and were armed with spears.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, the JG Zuma Foundation posted several tweets on Wednesday evening stating that they are “very concerned” about unfolding reports that the South African Police Service (SAPS) are ready to move in on Nkandla to take the corruption-accused ANC member to jail.

Police Minister Bheki Cele’s Spokesperson Lirandzu Themba on Wednesday afternoon indicated that today is very much D-Day for Zuma, saying that the South African Police Service (SAPS) is waiting on orders before the arrest deadline expires at midnight on Wednesday.

SPOKESPERSON CONFIRMS CELE IS IN KZN

Spokesperson to the Minister, Lirandzu Themba, confirmed to the South African that Cele has indeed travelled to KZN on Tuesday, although she wasn’t prepared to offer any further details about why that might be.

“He’s here on policing business and is a house in KZN. This is not out of the ordinary. He is in KZN every week,” she said.

Earlier, Themba said that Zuma is destined for handcuffs failing an alternative directive being passed down by the Constitutional Court. This followed Cele telling Parliament earlier this week that he required “further clarity” on the status of the arrest order before proceeding.
