Zizi Kodwa has become the latest high-profile ANC member to get dragged into the Farmgate controversy, after Namibian officials allegedly accused him of keeping quiet about the robbery at President Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala property in 2020.

What is Farmgate? Ramaphosa robbery incident unpacked

Burglars discovered a large concealment of US dollars at the property, worth up to $4 million. There was then an attempt to spend the money quickly, so it couldn’t be traced back. However, one suspect ended up getting caught by police over the border.

David Imanuwela was nabbed in Windhoek, in possession of $100 bills, a new Rolex watch, and other items that raised suspicion. It was soon revealed that the suspect had been part of an operation targeting the South African president. But Cyril himself DID NOT report the crime.

His silence, coupled with concerns that this cash stash was not declared to SARS, has put the ANC leader on the ropes – and he may soon be joined by Deputy Minister for the State Security Agency, Zizi Kodwa.

Is Zizi Kodwa involved in a cover-up?

As reported by City Press, Namibian cops held a meeting with SAPS in ‘no man’s land’, near the border with South Africa. It was here that Nampol turned over their findings to our police force. They also state that files were sent to the Justice Ministry for good measure.

However, no progress was made, and Justice Minister Ronald Lamola was accused of ignoring the request. He has since rejected these claims, and Zizi Kodwa has done the same. It’s reported that the ANC representative was part of the discussions between both police forces.

When it was put to Kodwa that he had ‘stayed silent’ on the matter, the Deputy Minister said that the accusations were ‘lies and fabrications’.

“This is pure fabrication and a fishing expedition; it’s desperation to give life to a non-story. The last night I went to Namibia I was working for Jacob Zuma, when he was president. They are lying.”
