Parents and guardians of Grade 7 learners that are looking to make online applications for Grade 8 are encouraged to make a move as soon as possible, as the deadline for Phase 1 of the 2022 online admissions is FAST-approaching.
According to the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE), the Phase 1 online application period will close on 3 September 2021.
The GDE started its two-phased 2022 Online Admissions applications approach with Phase 1, which began on 10 August 2021 and is set to end on 3 September 2021.
“This phase specifically targeted parents and guardians whose children are currently in Grade 7 at public schools in Gauteng and will be going to Grade 8 in 2022,” it said in a statement.
Phase 2 applications will begin on 13 September 2021 and this will be for parents and guardians of children going to Grade 1 and Grade 8 in 2022 but are not in a public school in Gauteng. Phase 2 will subsequently end on 8 October 2021.
As of Thursday 26 August 2021, the GDE has recorded 241 066 successful applications.
“We are grateful to parents and guardians who have managed to successfully apply and wish to encourage those who did not apply to do so before the closing date,” it said.
Those who seek assistance regarding the 2022 online admissions may visit the District Offices/walk-in centres or continue to interact with the contact centre at 0800-000-789.
Parents and guardians who have already applied must also remember that they have seven days to upload the required documents online or submit them at the school(s) they applied to.
“We have noted that some parents and guardians need to be reminded that the application stages also include the submission of the requested documents to the selected schools on time. To avoid disappointment, we remind parents and guardians to furnish the schools they applied to with the documents as soon as possible,” said Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
