Drug bust leads to arrest of suspect wanted for multiple crimes including murder

A man and two women were arrested in Bothasig, Cape Town for drug possession. It turns out the male suspect is wanted for a string of crimes.

Members attached to the Western Cape police’s Operation Restore conducted an operation in the early hours of Friday, 1 July, that led to the arrest of three people, including a suspect wanted for a string of violent crimes.

WANTED SUSPECT NABBED IN CAPE TOWN

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut said the operation was carried out in Bothasig, Cape Town after a tip-off was received.

A house in Nassau Street, Bothasig was searched and two women – aged 21 and 28 – and a man were arrested for possession of tik and mandrax with a combined value of R90 000.

The police said the man is also wanted for a string of crimes that include business robbery, murder, attempted murder, assault and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

“His identity can only be revealed once he has made a court appearance, which is scheduled for Monday morning in Bellville, together with the two female suspects,” said Traut.

The suspect is in the process of being charged for the various crimes he is accused of and the investigation into his arrest continues.
