Emergency services including the Bomb Disposal Unit are currently on a scene in Mount View, Durban where a suspected bomb was planted in a vehicle.

Prem Balram, spokesperson for Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said paramedics and reaction officers arrived on the scene at around 11:03 on Tuesday.

RESIDENTS WERE WARNED WITH A NOTE THAT A DEVICE SUSPECT TO BE A BOMB WAS PLANTED IN A VEHICLE

“We interviewed a 14-year-old girl who found a note on her doorstep this morning.”

Balram said the note written in blue warned that a device suspected to a bomb was planted in a vehicle belonging to a 30-year-old man.

The man is a resident at the premises.

The note further stated that it would burnt-out within an hour.

“A clear substance believed to be an accelerant was also found at the doorstep with several burnt-out match sticks. “

Balram said they were further informed that an unknown man had approached the home on Monday and ask for the man by name.

“When the 14-year-old girl refused to open the door, the suspect cocked a firearm and threatened to use the weapon.”
