Bodies of man and niece found a week after being reported missing
The bodies of a 38-year-old man and his niece were found in an Eldorado Park river a week after they were reported missing.

Almost a week after they were reported missing, the bodies of a man and his niece were found in a river in Eldorado park.
The man and his niece allegedly drowned
The two were reported missing on Thursday, 13 October. They were last seen going to a river in Eldorado Park to perform rituals, according to SAPS Colonel Dimakatso Sello.
Sello said that 38-year-old Thulani Mauixhale and 22-year-old Asisipho Leeu’s bodies were discovered on 17 and 18 October. They had allegedly drowned.
“The SAPS search and rescue team recovered the bodies of Thulani Mauixhale (38) and Asisipho Leeu (22) in the river. The bodies were discovered on 17 and 18 October 2022 and victims had allegedly drowned,”
said Sello.
Mauixhale’s partner shared posts online when they disappeared
Taking to Twitter on 14 October, Mauixhale’s partner, Monica Solwandle, shared images of the missing pair. She pleaded for assistance in locating her partner, his niece and their dog. She wrote on the morning of 14 October:
“My partner, niece and our dog are missing since yesterday. They driving an Audi A1 1.4 TFSI, red in colour. They left the house at 10h38 headed to Lenasia. The last location tracker has is Lenasia at 11h27.”
Later that afternoon, Solwandle shared an update on her partner and his niece, writing:
“We have found the car and the dog waiting next to it, thanks to our dear friend Oscar Bilankulu. My partner and our niece are still missing, please be on the look out for them.”
Solwandle shared the heartbreaking news of their passing on 19 October
On Wednesday, 19 October, Solwandle took to Twitter once more to share the heartwrenching news that her partner and his niece had passed away.
“It is with great sadness to announce that my partner and his niece have passed on 💔💔 thank you all for your support,” she wrote.
According to IOL, Colonel Sello said that police have opened an inquest docket. The details surrounding the death of the two are currently unknown.
