Police hunting BMW driver who allegedly killed three children in hit and run

The suspect was speeding in his brother’s BMW before he allegedly crashed into seven pedestrians, including three children, on Saturday.

Pretoria police are on the hunt for the driver of a silver BMW who allegedly crashed into seven pedestrians before fleeing the scene in Salvakop on Saturday, 7 January.

POLICE AFTER BMW DRIVER WHO CRASHED INTO SEVEN PEDESTRIANS

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said the incident allegedly took place at approximately 16:45.

“It is alleged that the suspect was driving his brother’s BMW at a high speed in Salvakop when he hit seven pedestrians.

“Three of the pedestrians were children aged between four and six years, who were certified dead at the scene,” said Masondo.

The surviving pedestrians were transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention. The BMW driver fled the scene and remains at large. On Saturday, private emergency service, Emer-G-Med, said the survivors’ injuries ranged from minor to moderate.

The suspect is wanted on charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving and defeating the ends of justice.
