Bishop Lavis family mass murder: Teenage suspect abandons bail

Cevyin Kemp is accused of brutally murdering three of his family members in Bishop Lavis last week. He abandoned his bail application in court on Monday.

An 18-year-old man accused of killing three of his family members appeared before the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court in Cape Town on Monday, 19 December.

BISHOP LAVIS TEEN IN COURT FOR MASS MURDER

Cevyin Kemp allegedly murdered Elmoine Kemp, 46, her 13-year-old son Peter and her sister Shireen Isaacs, 54.

“His case has been postponed until 16 March 2023 for further investigation. He has abandoned his bail,” said National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila.

According to reports, the mass murder took place in Nooitgedacht, Bishop Lavis early on Wednesday, 14 December.

Cape Town police spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut said all three victims had fatal head injuries. It appears that they were bludgeoned to death. “The motive for the attack on the two females aged 46 and 54 and a 13-year-old boy in Marlin Street is yet to be determined.”

Peter Isaacs attended St Augustine’s Roman Catholic Primary School, the Western Cape Education Department said to News24.
