The Department of Home Affairs is in the process of opening a bank branch at the Kathu Mall in the Northern Cape.
It is no secret that the department has partnered with banks to offer e-Home Affairs services. However, not everyone is aware of which facilities they can visit to get their Smart ID cards and Passports.
The new office in Khathu Mall is currently taking walk-ins as part of its stress testing and will go into full operation soon.
This reportedly brings the total number of active bank branches with Home Affairs services to 27, with the department anticipating the rollout of 43 more branches once agreements with the participating banks are signed in 2023.

“Operating Home Affairs offices at malls will obviate the problem of queuing in the sun or rain. We shall start with Menlyn mall in Pretoria, Cresta mall and Southgate mall in Johannesburg, the Pavillion in eThekwini and Tygervalley mall in Cape Town,” Motsoaledi said.
