Bakkie loses brakes and flips in KZN drain

A bakkie overturned in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Wednesday, 12 April after the driver lost control. There were no reported injuries.

At approximately 19:03, Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) responded to the incident.

When the Rusa officers arrived, they met with the driver.

BAKKIE’S BRAKES FAILED

“He explained that he had just left the tyre shop and was proceeding down a steep hill when his brakes failed.

“He veered off the road and travelled down an embankment before his bakkie overturned in a drain,” said Rusa.

There were no reported injuries.

A GANG MEMBER HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR TERRORISING TAVERNS

In a separate incident, The South African reported that a 38-year-old Lesotho national gang member was arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) IIOC Undercover Reaction Unit and the South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Intelligence for possession of an unlicensed firearm in Freedom Park on Monday, 10 April.

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said officers gang members robbed patrons at Morris Tavern and shot eight males the previous night. Three males perished on the scene and five males were admitted to a hospital in critical condition.

“The officers were dispatched to Freedom Park, and upon their arrival they received information that the majority of the gang members went to the Johannesburg Inner City to sell goods obtained during the robbery,” said Fihla.
