South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) grant beneficiaries who are collecting payments other than the R350 COVID-19 social relief of distress (SRD) grant can still collect their money from South African Post Office (SAPO) branches.

SASSA PAYMENT DATES

SASSA previously promised that social grants, including the pension, disability, children and associated grants, would be paid as early in the month as possible. In August, the second day of the month falls on a Tuesday.

According to SASA, social grants will be paid in the following order:

Tuesday, 2 August – Older Person’s grants (pension)

Wednesday, 3 August – Disability grants

Thursday, 4 August – All other grants will be paid from this day onwards

“There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed,” said the agency.

As previously reported, the post office no longer pays the R350 grant. Its beneficiaries are encouraged to collect from approved retail outlets or have it deposited directly into their bank accounts.

SASSA said 4 088 873 out of 5 298 817 R350 grant applicants had received their payments by 19 July.
