48 people were injured and 12 died after a truck smashed into a Christmas market in in Berlin on Monday.
While it is yet unknown who was driving, or whether this was an attack, the German government hasn’t ruled out the possibility.
“I don’t want to use the word ‘attack’ yet although a lot points to that,” Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said.
Shortly after the incident, Berlin police took to social media announcing that they had already arrested one person in connection with the crime, which took place at the Kaiser Wilhelm memorial church on Monday evening.
Local media published unconfirmed reports that the suspect was a refugee from either Afghanistan or Pakistan who entered the country back in Feb, but the police have not yet released the suspect’s nationality.
