Bimenyimana was announced as a Chiefs player last week, in a move that had the Amakhosi faithful feeling indifferent.

Fans indifferent about the signing

That could be attribute to many factors, one being how sceptical South African football supporters usually are when a foreign striker enters the league. The second reason could be, because Bimenyimana was already with Chiefs in pre-season and also seemed to make an impact by reportedly scoring two goals in one friendly. Yet, after three weeks with the team, the team’s management ended up letting him go. A third possible reason would be because he was reported to have accused the Soweto giants for wasting his time after not getting a deal after being kept for so long.

After leaving Chiefs, Bimenyimana was reported to have jetted off for more trials in Canada, before returning to Africa, specifically to his former club Rayon Sports. It then looked as if the player was going to re-sign for Rayon Sports, before reports began to intensify in the South African media that the player would in fact, make a shock return to Chiefs, and this time to put pen to paper.

Chiefs completed the signing

It then materialised as Chiefs announced the signing of the target man on a two-year deal with an option for a third. Glamour Boys coach Zwane has since shed some light on why the club delayed the players signing.

Why they delayed the signing

“The player that we just bought in Caleb ( Bimenyimana). We spent three weeks with Caleb, and we were impressed but we didn’t want to rush into things because we were still looking, We wanted to avoid this situation of quick-fix thing that you maybe bring in a player because of maybe desperation. We are not desperate. That’s why we had to wait for the right moment and be sure as to whether he’s the right player for us, I believe he is one of the good players” Zwane said as per Kick Off Magazine.

Zwane then outlined Bimenyimana’s strengths and how he hopes he will be able to help the club.

What Bimenyimana brings to the team

“And yah, we believe that Caleb is going to help us because he is the type of the striker when you have him on top, he does that, when you want him as maybe number 10, he has those qualities to help us,” Zwane concluded.

Chiefs take on Cape Town City in Cape Town this evening where Bimenyimana could potentially make his debut in the gold and black.
