Camps Bay, Clifton, Bakoven, Oudekraal, Green Point and Fresnaye in Cape Town will be without water on Monday, 9 May until Tuesday, 10 May 2022 due to supply disruptions.

Water supply pipeline from the Kloofnek Reservoir will be shut off on Monday, 9 May 2022 from 22:00 until 04:00 on Tuesday, 10 May 2022. This will allow the maintenance team to safely install a valve that was previously removed and now refurbished, on the 460mm diameter pipe.

SIX AREAS TO BE AFFECTED BY CAPE TOWN WATER OUTAGE

Residents in Camps Bay, Bakoven, Oudekraal and Clifton will experience no water while residents in Green Point and Fresnaye (above High Level Road) will experience low water pressure during this period.

The City of Cape Town said careful consideration has been given to the work to ensure that it is done at a time that is least disruptive to our residents.

City of Cape Town MMC for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien said residents in the six areas have to store water upfront in clean, sealed containers for domestic consumption during this period and to keep their taps closed to prevent any water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.

“Stand pipes will be set up in High Level Road to provide water for domestic purposes if required and a water tanker will be stationed in Camps Bay at the parking area behind Pick ‘n Pay next to the Camps Bay library.”

The City of Cape Town said it is imperative that it maintains and upgrades its water supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers.
