South Africa is holding its breath to hear who André de Ruyter names as the high-level politician who was involved in sinister and potentially criminal activities at the struggling state utility.
WHEN WILL DE RUYTER REVEAL THE HIGH-LEVEL POLITICIAN?
This follows after former Eskom Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andre de Ruyter made some shocking revelations during an interview.

De Ruyter says there is rampant corruption engineered by top politicians from the governing ANC party. He said they are interfering at the ailing power utility.
However, De Ruyter did not disclose who this high-level politician was.
He made these shocking revelations on Tuesday, 22 February 2023, during an interview with e.TV’s journalist Annika Larsen, in a show, titled My Guest Tonight.

ANDRÉ DE RUYTER SAYS THE ANC FEEDS THROUGH ESKOM
In more revelations, De Ruyter said undisclosed members of the governing party and government at the highest levels are aware of the corruption that is happening at Eskom.
He said the utility serves as the ANC’s “feeding trough”.

De Ruyter said he was approached by a minister about a high-level politician who was involved in sinister and potentially criminal activities at Eskom.
“I expressed my concern to a senior government minister about attempts, in my view, to water down governance around the $8.5 billion (R154.6bn), that largely through Eskom’s intervention we received at COP26.”

ESKOM RELIEVES DE RUYTER OF HIS NOTICE PERIOD
De Ruyter said he did not believe the government had the political will to end corruption within the power utility.
Eskom has since issued a statement saying: “Andre de Ruyter leaves Eskom with immediate effect”.
“Following the convening of a special Board meeting on 22 February 2023, the Eskom board and Group Chief Executive Andre de Ruyter have reached mutual agreement to curtail his notice period to 28 February 2023.”
