There is no place for racism and the continued harassment and discrimination of black people.

RAMAPHOSA SAYS THERE IS NO PLACE FOR RACISM

This was the stern warning of President Cyril Ramaphosa during the African National Congress (ANC) 111th birthday celebrations in Bloemfontein, the Free State.

Ramaphosa addressed about 10 000 ANC supporters at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium in Mangaung on Sunday, 8 January 2023, as reported by Pretoria News.

THE ANC CONDEMNS HARASSMENT AND DISCRIMINATION AGAINST BLACK PEOPLE

Ramaphosa was speaking in the presence of the two teenagers assaulted on Christmas Day.

The president called the boys to the stage and introduced them as his special guest.

Ramaphosa warned against racism following the Christmas Day altercation where two black teenage boys were assaulted in what appears to be a racial incident at the Maselspoort Resort outside Bloemfontein, Free State, the Pretoria News reported.

ANC CONDEMS HARASSMENT AND DISCRIMINATION AGAINST BLACK PEOPLE

Ramaphosa said the ANC condemns, in the strongest terms, the continued racism, harassment, and discrimination against black people.

He said black people regularly get attacked and victimised based on their skin colour.

“The ANC calls for law-enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute perpetrators who must face the full might of the law.

“The ANC further calls on its parliamentarians to champion the introduction of more effective laws and measures to combat racism which has no place in our constitutional democracy.”

A video taken on Christmas Day showed three middle-aged white men struggling with two black boys in a swimming pool at a holiday resort in Bloemfontein.

The video shows that they are trying to strangle, slap, or dunk the boys’ heads underwater.
