The African National Congress (ANC) has served former Eskom CEO Andre De Ruyter with court papers following the explosive allegations he made about senior ANC members being involved in corruption at the power utility.

ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula made the announcement on Friday, 3 March.

ANC GIVES DE RUYTER SEVEN DAYS TO RESPOND

“On the radar. Did we serve papers on Eskom and the greater when was it this week? For seven days. If it doesn’t respond in the next seven days it will take further steps.

“So we did because we think that there is something illegal committed. We don’t care whether the person was mentioned. Whoever they are they must stand for their sins,” said Mbalula.

De Ruyter added that evidence suggested that the power utility is a feeding trough for the African National Congress (ANC).

He mentioned that he informed a senior cabinet minister about a plot involving a “high-level politician” to steal from the $8.5 billion fund meant to ensure a just energy transition but that fell on deaf ears.
