ANC deploys Makhura and Ntuli to Luthuli House

The African National Congress (ANC) has deployed Makhura to its Luthuli House headquarters on a full-time basis.

The ANC’s David Makhura and Mdumiseni Ntuli, are among six national executive committee (NEC) members who have been deployed to the party’s Luthuli House headquarters.

ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula made the announcement in a media briefing on Tuesday following the party’s NEC meeting in Johannesburg.

ANC SUB-COMMITTEES FINALISED

The party finalised its sub-committees following the election of a new NEC at the national conference in December. Mbalula said that the NEC members have been stationed to support the organisational work at Luthuli House. 

Makhura will be leading the party’s political education, as reported by EWN, while also appointed as the deputy chairperson of the drafting committee. Ntuli will lead the party’s election team.

Sibongile Besani will remain the party’s head of presidency while the party’s former general manager Febe Potgieter has been appointed as head of research.

“She will continue with her role as general manager until 31 March 2023, by which time a new incumbent would have been appointed,”

said Mbalula.

OTHER MEMBERS’ ROLES

Mduduzi Manana will be leading the party’s organising and membership while Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri will be the party’s national spokesperson.

On the sub-committees, the party appointed deputy president Paul Mashatile as chair of the deployment committee.

Reverend Frank Chikane has been appointed to chair the Integrity Commission, with party stalwart Sophie de Bruyn as his deputy.

COMMISION TO DEAL WITH OUTSTANDING ISSUES

The commission will deal with issues that were outstanding before the December conference. This includes the report on the robbery that took place at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s farm in Limpopo.

Other member of the party include Sue Rabkin, Cyril Jantjies, Smangaliso Mkhatshwa, Nkele Ntingane, Thandi Rankoe, Jenny Schreiner James Ngculu, and Len Rasekgatla.

NEWCOMERS TO NEC

Zuko Godlimpi was appointed deputy chair of the economic transformation subcommittee while Limpopo’s Thandi Moraka will chair the arts and culture committee.
