‘Al-Qaeda’ gang member killed near Klerksdorp – police launch manhunt

The police said the victim was talking to someone in the street when three men got out of a taxi without a license plate and shot him

The police in the North West have launched a manhunt for unknown suspects after a 40-year-old man was shot and killed near Klerksdorp on Friday morning, 15 July.

‘AL-QAEDA’ GANG MEMBER KILLED BY THREE SUSPECTS

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said the incident occurred at Extension 16 in Jouberton Location outside Klerksdorp.

The police said the victim is believed to be a member of the Al-Qaeda gang. He was reportedly standing next to his vehicle in the street and talking to someone when a white Toyota Quantum taxi without a license plate pulled up.

Three men got out of the vehicle and “shot and killed him instantly,” said the police spokesperson.

The motive for the alleged murder is yet to be determined and an investigation into the matter is underway. No arrests have been made thus far.
