BREAKING: Three killed in Nasrec aircraft crash

Air traffic control has confirmed that all three occupants of a light aircraft were declared dead on scene in Nasrec.

Three people have died after a light aircraft they were travelling in crashed in Nasrec, Gauteng on Sunday morning, 15 January 2023.

NASREC AIRCRAFT CRASH CLAIMS THREE LIVES

According to emergency service, Emer-G-Med paramedics together with multiple other emergency services responded to the scene.

Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said as per air traffic control there were only three people on board and they all died.

“The South African Police Service (SAPS) are in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation together with Civil Aviation Authorities,” van Reenen said.

FIVE KILLED IN RAND AIRPORT CRASH

In a separate incident that sent shockwaves on 30 Augsut 2022 five people on board a SAPS aircraft were killed when it crashed near Rand Airport in Gauteng.

According to sources on the scene, another person was critically injured and airlifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

“A SAPS Pilatus PC-6/B2-H4 Turbo Porter crashed shortly after taking off from the Rand Airport on Tuesday afternoon.”

Police spokesperson Colonel Athlenda Mathe said they could sadly confirm that one of its fixed-wing aircraft crashed at the Rand Airport in Gauteng at 14:30 this afternoon.

“On board were five passengers and the pilot. All five passengers have sadly lost their lives. The pilot is critically injured and has been taken to a nearby hospital for further medical care. Authorities are on the scene to establish the cause of the accident.”

Earlier in 2022 two young pilots were killed when their aircraft crashed on a farm in Kinkelbos. The 33-year-old Sudanese national Oyit Ajack and 25-year-old Malawian National Bhadresh Kadiwar died on impact after their light aircraft crashed on a farm in Kinklebos in June.
