The Zimbabwean police arrested 16 people at a sex party in Harare on Saturday, 16 October. The authorities shut down the ‘sex party’ after receiving a tip-off. The event was promoted via social media.

SEX PARTY RAIDED

The police raided a house in Tynwald South, Harare, on Saturday after receiving a tip-off, according to the Zimbabwe Herald.

Sixteen people, including 10 men and six women, were arrested on Saturday after they were questioned by the police and could provide satisfactory answers.

Fifteen of the suspects were released on bail – for free – after they appeared before Magistrate Barbra Mateko on Monday, 18 October.

Ravyn Mabva Mukononi, who is believed to be the owner of the house where the sex party was hosted, was also granted bail of $3000 (about R120).

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said that some of the suspects were having sex when police raided the house, according to TimesLive. “Upon questioning they failed to give satisfactory responses and were arrested.”

According to the report, the suspects are being charged with “disorderly conduct” and Mukononi faces more stringent criminal charges for allegedly turning his home into a brothel.

The promoter of the party is believed to be 33-year-old Mollen Mashingaize. She also faces a charge of disorderly conduct after the police discovered that she allegedly promoted the sex party with posters on WhatsApp.

The promoter allegedly invited men to bring ZW$200 for toiletries and condoms and an additional ZW$20 for rotational sex with the women, according to TimesLive.

The matter is expected to go to a full trial.
