An abusive security officer was nabbed for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) on Tuesday, 27 December.

ABUSIVE SECURITY OFFICER ATTEMPTS TO RUN AFTER GBH MATTER

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson Xolani Fihla confirmed that a 32-year-old male suspect was arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) IIOC Undercover Reaction Unit for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) and pointing of a firearm in Hillbrow.

“On Tuesday, 27 December 2022, officers received information about a male suspect who was shooting at people at Twist and Bok Street, Hillbrow.
Officers responded and upon their arrival, the alleged suspect attempted to escape,” he explained.

“Officers gave chase and the suspect was apprehended at Wolmarans and Edith Cavell Street, Braamfontein.”

The abusive security officer was searched, and a licensed firearm and ammunition were found in his possession.

“Further information was received by the officers that the suspect, a security guard, had earlier assaulted a female who resides in the same building he is employed in.
It’s alleged that he kicked her in the face, stomach, and ribs, and kept on kicking her continuously until she passed out. It was further alleged that whilst he was kicking the lady, the suspect was holding and pointing a firearm at her,” Fihla further explained.

NO VALID REASON FOR ASSAULTING THE FEMALE VICTIM

When questioned why he assaulted the lady, Fihla says the suspect failed to answer.

“The suspect was placed under arrest and detained at Hillbrow Police Station (SAPS), where a case docket was opened for further investigation,” he concluded.

This is a developing story.
