SOME WATER TREAMENT PLANTS WILL BE SHUT DOWN

The municipality said maintenance work, including pipe and valve installations, repairs, and replacements, will result in water supply disruption to these areas:

Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia, Lower Constantia, Tokai, and Westlake—The City of Cape Town said emergency repairs to the main water supply pipeline need to be done in these areas from 00:00 on Tuesday morning, 18 June, until 24:00 on Wednesday, 19 June.

The work involves replacing two 535mm diameter critical control valves at the Constantia Sports Complex and on the corner of Berwick Road and Constantia Main Road. The water supply needs to be shut off so the work can be done safely, which will disrupt the water supply to these areas during this period.

Somerset Ridge, Westridge, and Audas Estate—Somerset West—Five control valves will be installed on the main water supply to these areas. The water supply will be disrupted from 10:00 to 17:00 on Wednesday, 19 June, and from 10:00 to 17:00 on Thursday, 20 June.

Site C—Khayelitsha – The City of Cape Town said a meter and pressure-reducing valve (PRV) will be installed on the main water supply to the Site C area in Khayelitsha. This will disrupt the water supply from 10:00 until 17:00 on Thursday, 20 June.

Wemmershoek Water Treatment Plant temporary shutdown

This will occur from 00:00 on Wednesday, 19 June, until 16:00 on Thursday, 20 June. The shutdown will enable the team to do electrical and mechanical maintenance. The reservoirs supplying the northern parts of the city will be filled in advance.
