14 Goats, one taxi, five arrests
You’ve goat to be kidding me.
Stock theft isn’t funny, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a giggle when something this bizarre happens.
Police officers patrolling a quiet street in Meyerton, Midvaal in the early hours of Tuesday when they came across this most curious discovery.
Fourteen goats were packed into a minibus taxi. Two goats were standing in front of the taxi facing backwards while the rest were piled in the back, where seats had been removed.
The Star reports:
Police spokeswoman Constable Maria Letsele told The Star that officers were doing a routine patrol when they stopped three vehicles travelling together: a white Hilux bakkie, a black Volkswagen Jetta and the taxi.
The driver and the rest of the men in the other vehicles could not explain why the goats were in the taxi. They were subsequently arrested and charged with stock theft.
The goats have been happily returned to their owner.
