Municipal worker arrested for murder of a traffic cop

A 38-year-old municipal worker will appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate Court in connection with the murder of a traffic official.

A municipal worker from Mbombela is expected to appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate Court for the murder of a traffic cop.

MUNICIPAL WORKER KILLED TRAFFIC COP ON SATURDAY

The 38-year-old municipal worker murdered the provincial traffic official on Saturday evening.

“The husband kicked open the door and there was an altercation as a broken beer bottle was found,” says Mpumalanga police spokesperson Dineo Sekgotodi.

Sekgotodi says it is further alleged that the traffic official ran out of the chalet and the husband followed him as he fired shots.

“The victim was shot twice and succumbed to his injuries, while the suspect fled the scene. Several law enforcement agencies attended the scene. They took the initiative to phone the suspect who handed himself over at SAPS Nelspruit.”

The police seized an official firearm which is believed to have been used by the suspect.
