XM Label Red: BMW’s most powerful M model yet confirmed for South Africa

The BMW XM Label Red, a hybrid-powered performance SUV, powered by a V8 engine and electric power will go on sale in South Africa in 2024.

BMW has revealed its most powerful M model yet – the XM Label Red. Its hybrid powertrain combines to produce 550kW and 1000Nm mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission.

BMW will unveil its new XM Label Red model at the Shanghai motor show later this month and the German carmaker has released some interesting information about its most powerful M model yet, according to TimesLive.

THE XM LABEL RED HAS CLAIMED 100KM/H SPRINT TIME OF 3.8 SECONDS

For starters production of the performance SUV will begin in August 2023 at its Group Plant Spartanburg, South Carolina in the United States of America. The carmaker says that scheduled for the same timeframe is an exclusive edition of the range-topping model limited to 500 examples and featuring an exterior paint finish in company’s Individual Frozen Carbon Black metallic.

In terms of performance, the XM Label Red has a claimed zero to 100km/h sprint time of 3.8 seconds and is electronically muzzled to 250 km/h, but rises to 290 km/h on cars with the M Driver’s Package, which will be standard issue on models sold in South Africa.

The electric motor contributes up to 145 kW to the maximum system output of the BMW XM Label Red and develops nominal torque of 280Nm .

 THE NEW MODEL WILL HAVE 22-INCH FOR SOUTH AFRICAN-SPEC MODELS

Inside the XM Label Red one is greeted by the clear red motif which extends to diamond-shaped upper sections of the backrests and the integrated head restraints of the seats for the driver and front passenger and the outer rear seats.

This is complemented by red contrast stitching for the black surfaces of the seats, instrument panel, door trim and centre console, and the likewise red accents for the air vents.

The sporty model has been confirmed in South Africa and the carmaker says further information will be made available closer to market introduction.
