THE ONE-MILLIONTH MINI MODEL WAS DECKED OUT IN BRITISH RACING GREEN

The Mini was first unveiled in the United Kingdom 1959 when its inventor Sir Alec Issigonis aimed to build an affordable compact car for the masses. The concept took off and Britain remains its largest market.

Between 2001 and 2021 the brand sold 5.1 million vehicles since it was bought by German carmaker BMW. It has become a success story in the motoring landscape.

Mini says it will become an all-electric carmaker from 2030, according to TimesLive.

The milestone of the one-millionth Mini three-door version coincides with the British plant celebrating its 110th anniversary in 2023. According to BMW Pressclub, the Mini three-door was also produced for a time in Born, the Netherlands.

As the company moves to an all-electric future, it’s fitting that the one-millionth Mini model is an all-electric Mini Cooper SE.

MINI WILL ONLY PRODUCE ALL-ELECTRIC MODELS FROM 2030

The wide range of three-door models has been underpinned by the One First with its original 55kW to the more powerfully Mini Cooper with 100kW/136 hp to the racing-inspired Mini John Cooper Works models.

The John Cooper Works brand name stands for outstanding performance, with 225kW the 2019 MINI John Cooper Works GP is the brand’s fastest ever road-going model.

In 2022, the carmaker recorded a significant increase in sales of electrified models, with one in five Mini models now electric.
