TGRSA’s drivers are primed for their GTC showdown this weekend

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing South Africa (TGRSA) is gearing up for an exhilarating weekend of racing as Round 5 of the 2023 Global Touring Cars (GTC) championship unfolds at the iconic East London Grand Prix Circuit. With fierce competition and captivating battles on the horizon, TGRSA’s drivers are ready to tackle the challenges of this historic and fast-paced track.

TGRSA’s drivers line-up

TGRSA will continue to field the same line-up of drivers and cars as in previous rounds, showcasing the skill of Saood Variawa, Nathi Msimanga, and Michael van Rooyen. Variawa, currently leading the championship with a 13-point advantage, has proven to be a force to be reckoned with. He will once again take the wheel of his GTC Toyota GR Corolla, aiming to extend his championship lead and maintain his exceptional form.

Hot on Variawa’s heels is Toyota privateer, Robert Wolk, who currently sits in second place. Msimanga, in third place, and Michael van Rooyen, in fourth, are determined to make their mark and challenge for top honours in the championship standings.

The East London Grand Prix Circuit, known for its fast corners such as Potter’s Pass and Rifle, is steeped in motorsport history. Its combination of high-speed sections and technical challenges will put the drivers’ skills and precision to the test, promising exhilarating racing action for both drivers and fans alike.

As for the weather forecast, Friday’s practice sessions are expected to be accompanied by rain, adding an additional layer of complexity for the teams and drivers. However, Saturday’s races are anticipated to take place under cloudy and dry conditions, setting the stage for intense competition on the track.

Saood Variawa has been leading the championship with incredible determination, but we cannot underestimate the fierce competition from Robert Wolk, Nathi Msimanga, and Michael van Rooyen. We anticipate an exciting weekend of close battles and thrilling racing.”
