The Monaco Grand Prix kicks off the European leg of the 2023 Formula 1 season after the Emilia Romagna GP was canceled due to flooding in the region, that saw 36 000 people displaced and 14 people die according to Euronews.

The drivers missed out on racing at Imola and now return to another street circuit, arguably the most iconic on the F1 calendar. The Monaco Grand Prix becomes the fifth street circuit race in row as the drivers traipse around the narrow roads of Monte Carlo.

Last season’s race saw Sergio Perez claim victory ahead of Carlos Sainz Jnr and Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen, according to F1.com.

In 2023 Red Bull has been the dominant team, scoring five victories in succession. Monaco’s tight and twisty track will benefit cars that are fast in slow and medium corners, while teams like Red Bull with high straight line speed will find it harder to assert themselves.

This ultimately brings Ferrari and the impressive Aston Martin into play this weekend for the Monaco Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso has been in stupendous form for the British team and has scored four podium finishes.
