Lewis Hamilton’s replacement named for Sakhir Grand Prix

Williams driver George Russell will replace Lewis Hamilton for Sunday’s Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain.

Williams driver George Russell will replace Lewis Hamilton for Sunday’s Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain.

Hamilton on Tuesday confirmed he would miss the weekend’s race after testing positive for Covid-19.

Russell’s seat at Williams will be taken by little-known Jack Aitken.

MERCEDES CONFIRMED THE NEWS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Hamilton, who has already wrapped up a record-equaling seventh F1 drivers’ title, faces a race against time to be passed to drive in the season-ending Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi.

Hamilton’s Mercedes team confirmed the news on social media on Wednesday.
