First revealed in March this year, the new V12 plug-in Lamborghini Revuelto has been spotted testing in anger at the famed Nurburgring testing ground. And that name, Revuelto? Well, it quite literally means “scrambled” in Italian. Thankfully the test driver seems anything but on this test run! Filmed by CarSpyMedia and reported by our colleagues at Motor Authority, this is the first time we’re seeing Lamborghini’s Aventador replacement in motion.

LAMBORGHINI REVUELTO

For those of you unfamiliar with the new biggest and baddest V12 Lamborghini, the Revuelto is not merely an upgraded Aventador. It is in fact a ground-up supercar – neigh, hypercar – with an all-new chassis and plug-in hybrid V12 tech that debuted in the Sian in 2021.

The 6.5-litre engine is only the third V12 in the Italian firm’s history. Internal combustion engine power alone is rated at 606 kW at a high-revving 9 250 rpm. This is augmented with three electric motors to seamlessly fill in any torque gaps for a total system output of 745 kW, or the magical 1 000 horsepower!

Lamborghini’s quoted performance is 2.5 seconds for a zero to 100 km/h sprint and top speed is rated at 350 km/h. Even with the electric assistance, the V12 bellow still sounds amazing in this video.

Under the carbon fibre bodywork, there’s an all-new tub and new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The plant in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, was upgraded to accommodate all the new construction techniques required for the Revuelto.

Lap-time wise, the benchmark to beat is a 6:35.183 set by the “F1 car for the road,” the Mercedes-Benz AMG One. However, a more realistic benchmark will be the last fastest Lambo, the Aventador SVJ, which clocked a 6:44.97 back in 2018. This was the production car record at the time.

We’ll keep you posted when the Lambo test pilots return with a representative lap time. First deliveries of the Revuelto are scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2023, with an estimated asking price of $540 000, or R10 million at the current exchange rate.

A bargain if you ask us!
