As reported by The South African website, the latest price changes for petrol and diesel both inland and at the coast came into effect at midnight on Tuesday this week.

Petrol dropped by 71 cents a litre while diesel saw an 80-84 cents per litre decrease.

That brought the petrol price for 95 Octane to R22.63 inland.

According to the Outlier Africa Instagram page, by comparison, four years ago a litre of 95 Octane cost R16.76.

Despite the most recent decrease, that’s still R5.87 a litre more than 48 months ago.

To fill the 45 litre tank of your VW Polo Sedan in Gauteng and other inland regions used to cost R754 in June 2019. Nowadays it will set you back R1 018.

That’s a whopping R264 more.

Ouch!
