Design honours for Honda’s new electric compact car and superbike

Award-winning Honda e and CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP inducted into world-renowned Red Dot Design Museum.

The Honda e, Honda’s next-generation electric car, and its CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP superbike have been inducted into Germany’s historic Red Dot Design Museum.

The Honda e, the company’s first compact car offering for the European market has also been included in the special Milestones in Contemporary Design exhibition, as one of the 76 best products of 2020 and a current benchmark in international product design.

Honda e: ‘Best of the best 2020’

The Red Dot Museum, which highlights and exhibits contemporary design, awarded the Honda e electric vehicle it’s highest honour, the ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best 2020’ award for ground-breaking product design. The Honda e also received the Red Dot 2020 accolade in the meta-category ‘Smart Products’.

The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP was awarded a Red Dot for outstanding design in the motorcycle category. Both Honda products will become part of the 2020/21 special exhibition in the Red Dot Design Museum, in Essen, Germany.

Reimagining next era of urban mobility

Red Dot Design Award founder and CEO Peter Zec praised the design and lines of the Honda e, which, he said, “reimagines” the next era of urban mobility, by bringing features such as a side camera mirror systems to the compact segment.

The 2020 model of the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP won the Red Dot 2020 Award in the motorcycle category for its racing-inspired design, and aerodynamic styling.

The winning products are chosen by a judging panel of 40 international experts who test, evaluate and discuss each entry.
