This is an important drag race as it pits two of Ferrari’s most powerful hybrid powered supercars in a straight shootout. The 296 GTB takes on the larger SF90 Stradale.

The SF90 Stradale moved the goalposts even further ahead of Ferrari’s first hybrid car, the LaFerrari. The Stradale is the first plug-in hybrid car to wear the prancing horse badge, according to Motor1.

A DRAG RACE FEATURING TWO FERRARIS IS ALWAYS SPECIAL

The SF90 Stradale uses a V8 engine and three electric motors for a total of 735kW. The electric motor at the rear, known as the MGUK (Motor Generator Unit, Kinetic) which derives from Formula 1, is located between the engine and the new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission on the rear axle.

In order to help it in this drag race, the SF90 Stradale sends all of its power to a four-wheel-drive system which will help it with traction in the drag race. The powerful supercar is fitted with four configurable modes that manages the flow of power between the engine, the electric motors and the batteries, according to Ferrari.

THE FERRARI 296 GTB PUTS UP A GOOD FIGHT IN THIS COMPANY

Moving onto the less powerful Ferrari 296 GTB, it has a V6 engine coupled with electric power to produce 610kW and 740Nm of torque to the rear wheels only.

United Kingdom motoring YouTube channel, CarWow, says: “We know you’ve been waiting for this drag race! We’ve got two incredible Ferrari hybrid supercars going head-to-head over the quarter-mile!”

“So how will this play out? The SF90 may have more power, but the 296 is lighter! Will the weight difference prove to be decisive? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!,” the channel says.
