Will The Kardashians be back in South Africa any time soon?

If they’re used to luxury, they’ll probably have to stay in Nkandla for their vacation

They are a family that you either love or hate. But make no mistake, they are a global empire. Whether it’s through their ‘momager’ Kris, or individual business ventures, the Kardashians have made an absolute fortune.

You can’t really knock their popularity, either. The reality show based on their lives is currently airing its 14th season, with a 15th in the works. To many, they are aspirational figures. And they have a thing for South Africa too, you know.

It seems like the ‘Special K’ bunch have really enjoyed their time in Mzansi. Whether they got hooked on biltong and boerewors remains to be seen. But they’re no strangers to SA, and they’re even planning a comeback

When have the Kardashians visited South Africa?

The first visit the family paid was back in July 2010. Kim and Khloe both visited for a brief stay in July, with Kim bringing her former partner Reggie Bush. The pair then came back in December 2010, but this time, it was business-related. They were in SA to launch a new flavour of Brutal Fruit. Oh how the mighty have risen…

Khloe came back in 2014 for the MTV Music awards, and even stayed for a safari whilst she was here. She came with then-boyfriend French Montana, but by time filming for Keeping Up With The Kardashians aired, they’d broken up. SA isn’t responsible for their heartbreak, we don’t think.

In an interview with Channel 24, Kim Kardashian said she loved her time here. But unlike her sister, she’s never been on a safari.

Which Kardashians visited South Africa?

Have:

  • Kim K
  • Khloe K

Only these two? Agh. They’ve made return visits more than once, but they are doing a pretty lousy job of selling it to the others.

Have not:

  • Rob K
  • Kourtney K
  • Kris Jenner
  • Caitlyn Jenner
  • Kylie Jenner
  • Kendall Jenner

Come on guys, there’s a 15th season to film. Surely you are short on ideas? We’d all love to see you getting round a braai…

Where did Kim and Khloe stay?

Back in 2010, Kim and Khloe partied in Sandton, Johannesburg. For their return in December, they went to the Mother City. They stayed in Cape Town for about a week, and Kim had an… interesting… way of describing her stay:

When Khloe and French came for their visit, they headed to Durban and stayed at a remote location in Kwa-Zula Natal.

Will the Kardashians come back to SA?

Hold on to your hats. In that interview with Channel 24, Kim teased her adoring public with a sly suggestion that we’ll be seeing them here sooner rather than later:

“We love our vacations and we go on one every year. I haven’t thought we’d have it [this year], but I’m going to suggest [South Africa] today because I think that would be so much fun!”

“I’ve been to South Africa, I’ve been to different parts of Africa but I have never been on safari. Every time I’ve planned to go something would come up so I’ve never actually been on safari but I would love to go!”

It’s possible that Kim and Khloe won’t just be the only family members making their way back to Mzansi. But where to next? They’ve already seen Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. This is a family used to opulence, large sprawling properties, and an embarresment of riches beyond comprehension.

Perhaps Keeping Up With The Kardashians In Nkandla might get an airing?
