F1 girl power! SA’s racing diamond Naomi Schiff joins Sky Sports

From representing SA on the karting track as a youngster, racing driver Naomi Schiff has joined the Sky Sports F1 presenter team.

As the new Formula 1 season returns, Sky Sports has added a new member to its F1 team of presenters. The 27-year-old Naomi Schiff has joined the giant sports broadcaster to cover Formula 1 and co-host the brand new F1 show Any Driven Monday.

The 60-minute live show is streamed on Mondays after race weekends at 18:00 on Sky Sports F1’s YouTube channel.

WHO IS NAOMI SCHIFF?

The Rwandan-Belgian professional female racing and stunt driver who now resides in the United Kingdom, grew up in South Africa, where she first started her racing career — karting — at the age of 11.

At the age of 14, Schiff represented South Africa in the Karting World Championships for four consecutive years: 2008 to 2011. Soon thereafter, she joined the world of circuit racing.

Her major feats include the 2014 Clio Cup Asia championship title with seven wins from 10 starts. In 2018, she won the KTM GT4 X-Bow Battle championship title and also won silver in the 2018 ADAC Zurich 24 Hours Nürburgring.

JOINING SKY SPORTS

The professional racer, who is also a W Series’ Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador, will co-host Any Driven Monday with Matt Baker from Sky Sports Studios in London.

Announcing the exciting news to her followers on Instagram, Naomi wrote: “Super excited to announce that I’ll be joining the @skysportsf1 team on their coverage this upcoming season! As well as co-hosting a brand new @skysportsf1 show with @mattbtv that will come to you live (6PM GMT), on YouTube every Monday after every F1 race!!”

“Crazy to think in a few days I’ll be joining the team I’ve been watching on tv for years. It’s about to be a busy year,” she added.

SKY SPORTS DIRECTOR SINGS NAOMI SCHIFF’S PRAISES

Sky Sports F1 director Billy McGinty expressed his excitement as they welcomed Naomi to the team. He also explained that they will continue to challenge themselves and deliver the best coverage for their audiences as they are seeing growth in motorsport fans year on year.

“I’m delighted to welcome Naomi to our Sky Sports F1 team. I’ve watched Naomi’s career with interest, I’m excited she’ll be contributing to our coverage and co-hosting our new YouTube show Any Driven Monday,” Good Things Guy quoted him as saying.
