Less than a month ago, the bobsled team, Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. The Super Eagles team will be making history when they represent Nigeria at the Winter Olympics, making them the first African team to reach a bobsled event.

Most recently, they appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and it seems apparent that they can’t contain their excitement for what’s to come anymore.

The team, nicknamed The Ice Blazers made quite an entrance to Beyoncé’s ‘Run The World (Girls)’ and started talking about their journey so far.

They are currently living in Houston, Texas, but their parents are from Nigeria. They spoke to Ellen, when Adigun said:

“Everybody is going absolutely nuts. The crazy thing about it is most people don’t really understand what bobsled is but they don’t care. They just know the flag is raising high, and they are excited about it.”

When asked how they mastered the sport, Adigun said they are still learning.

Adigun is in her third season, but her first season as the driver, is actually this one.

“Imagine taking a sixteen-year-old who just learned how to drive and throwing them in Daytona. You know like it’s one of those things where, ‘yeah he knows how to drive’ but it’s a whirlwind. Every time we cross the finish line, I’m literally screaming because I’m like ‘Thank God we survived!'”

The three of them go on to explain exactly what bobsled is and talked about the opening ceremony, where only one of them will be carrying the Nigerian flag.

Of course, Ellen is very generous and gave them two custom-made flags. Check out the full interview down here:

The Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea kicks off on February 9. Make sure to watch The Super Eagles take on other bobsled teams then!
