After a woman was slammed for wearing her thong as a mask in a Pick n Pay grocery store recently, many South African took to social media to show their distaste of the idea.

“This makes me sick,” one social media user commented. “We sit with a serious virus and a G-string will save her. Come on grow up. What must your family think? [sic]”.

Making a killing with ‘vagina-scented face masks

Now, after the uproar in South Africa, New Jersey native Angela Anderson started going viral after selling what she calls “vagina-scented face masks”.

According to IOL, the 55-year-old founded Coronapussy, a company that sells vagina-smelling face masks for $4.99 (about R80).

Anderson reportedly thought of the idea after being fired from her hotel job and decided on supplementing her income by designing a mask different from any other. What’s more, she sold 500 in the first 24 hours.

“Next week we’ll release another 500 units for sale at the same price, they’re not made fast… otherwise the aroma disappear in a few hours,” she told the online publication foolishumor.com

As for how she gets the particular scent: She explained that a fine cloth is placed in the vagina for two hours and then glued inside the mask.

The idea is working out

“With (these) face masks you can be protected and also enjoy that vaginal smell that people love. This idea is working out,” she said.

She said that there also might be a penis-scented face mask in the works.

“Surely in few weeks we’ll release others with the smell of c*ck for woman who need it, we already have a waiting list of 32 people.”

A new fetish

Vice asked the question of whether this is a new fetish item, and proceeded to interview Cat, who also sells personally scented masks on Snifffr, an adult website that facilitates the sale of mostly used and dirty panties between two parties. Cat has been selling her masks through the site for almost a year and told Vice that pleasure can be a demeaning, two-way street:

“I think people like them because they’re able to enjoy a fetish outside of their home. I think it’s like a little secret only they know and it makes it risky and fun.”

The trend seems to be catching on as Gwyneth Paltrow’s also launched vagina-scented candles on Goop.
