The UK Sports Technology Awards 2017 are seen as an increasingly influential voice within the industry, and this year saw entries from more than 30 countries, spanning over 70 different sports.

DNAFit, a genetics company based in the UK received the ‘Athlete Welfare’ award at the ceremony held at Camden Roundhouse in London.

The ‘Best Technology for Managers & Coaches: Athlete Welfare’ award celebrates organisations that challenge the norm and assist sportspeople to perform according to their true potential.

The award follows a very successful year for DNAFit – in 2016 the brand delivered the first-ever clinical study that demonstrated the potential of genetically guided training. Studies showed that training according to an individual’s genetics allowed for almost three times the performance increase over unguided training.

The ground-breaking science was translated into the world’s first ever online genetic training platform – Elevate, which creates personalised, interactive training plans based on a customer’s goals and genetic profile, taking the customer through a journey of the DNAFit approach. This has been complemented by a number of exciting elite sport collaborations, including the launch of the ambitious Rugby Genome Project, spearheaded by Springbok legend Bryan Habana.

Avi Lasarow, CEO of DNAFit said, “We are extremely proud to receive such prestigious recognition at the UK Sports Technology Awards 2017. As a team, we are driven by a desire to deliver innovation through research that really makes a difference, both to elite sports people and everyday consumers who wish to unlock their true potential. This award is an important milestone on our journey to be the leader in the democratisation of personal fitness and nutrition data for everyone.”

DNAFit is ranked 8th in the Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Data Science. The brand was also shortlisted in a further two categories at last week’s Sports Technology Awards and has also been shortlisted for the Cutting Edge award at the BT Sports Industry Awards 2017.
