According to a statement released by the channel, Trevor Noah will last appear on The Daily Show on 8 December 2022. The show will then take a break and resume on 17 January 2023.

From 5 December, the show will take a “celebratory look back” at Trevor Noah’s greatest moments as host.

The network said in a statement: “Trevor Noah has moved The Daily Show seamlessly from insightful, hilarious satire to serious, provocative conversations, meeting society’s moments of unrest and uncertainty with clarity and conviction.

“Whether it was tackling presidential campaigns, police violence, and systemic racism or navigating a global pandemic, he has entertained and enlightened audiences through his unique voice and perspective.

“Trevor is an incredible talent who has left an indelible mark on The Daily Show and we’re grateful for his creative partnership over the past seven years”.

According to various sources, Trevor Noah’s announcement earlier this month was news to his TV bosses.

RadarOnline reports that Noah essentially dropped a bombshell on his employers, despite meeting management just one day before announcing his decision.

On 29 September, Noah revealed that he would be leaving the show to pursue other ventures. But just a day earlier, the South African comedian had lunch with his boss, Chris McCarthy, president, and C.E.O. of MTV Entertainment Group. According to the publication, the star did not bring up his intention to leave the show during the meeting.

The publication adds that Noah also kept his announcement under wraps from show producers, members of his team, and a majority of his staff.

With news of the show returning in 2023 sans Trevor Noah, viewers are asking the question: Who will be the next host of The Daily Show?

According to various publications, several suitors have been lined up. And many of them include The Daily Show correspondents like Samantha Bee, Roy Wood Jr, Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Dulce Sloan, and Jordan Klepper.

Despite keeping their lips sealed on the official decision, Comedy Central said in a vague statement to MailOnline:  “In time, we will turn to the next chapter of The Daily Show and all of our incredible correspondents will be at the top of that list.

“Until then, we are focused on celebrating Trevor Noah and thanking him for his many contributions.”
