Trevor Noah scoops NAACP Image Awards nomination

Trevor Noah is nominated for entertainer of the year at the 2021 NAACP Image Awards that is set to take place in March.

South African comedian Trevor Noah was recently nominated for a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Award.

Trevor Noah nominated for entertainer of the year

The host of The Daily Show received a nod for the upcoming NAACP Image Awards in the USA, just weeks before he is set to host the Grammy Awards, becoming the first South African to do so. 

According to IOL, the 52nd NAACP Image Award nomination list was announced virtually on 2 February 2021 where Trevor was nominated in the entertainer of the year category alongside the like for How To Get Away With Murder star Viola Davis, production house boss Tyler Perry, Watchmen star Regina King and DJ D-Nice.

The 2021 NAACP Image Awards, that is set to take place at the end of March this year, will ultimately see Africa well represented, as Yvonne Orji and Dayo Okeniyi from Nigeria also getting nominations.

This is Trevor’s and D-Nice’s first time for being nominated for the award. While Davis, Perry and King have been nominated before. In the past Trevor was nominated in the categories outstanding talk series, outstanding variety show, outstanding host in a talk show/series and outstanding writing in a comedy series. Trevor only won the outstanding writing in a comedy series category.

The NAACP Image Awards are dedicated to honour people of color for their outstanding performances in film, television, music and literature.

Trevor’s many accolades

Trevor has won a number of impressive awards during the time that he has worked as the host of The Daily Show. He has won a number of MTV Move and TV Awards, a Primetime Emmy, a Shorty Award and even a massive MTV Africa Music Award back in 2015. Trevor has also been named on the highly coveted Time 100 list (in 2018) and in 2020, and as one of GQ Magazine’s Men of the Year.
