Trevor Noah nominated for MTV Movie & TV Award as Best Host

Renowned South African comedian Trevor Noah bagged an MTV nomination for Best Host.

Trevor Noah was nominated as Best Host for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. He will go up against Gayle King from CBS This Morning, Nick Cannon from Wild ‘n Out, and RuPaul from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The nomination follows just two months after rumours of The Daily Show’s cancellation had fans in a frenzy. At the time, AT&T Direct TV was said to get rid off Comedy Central and 22 other channels.

Another award for Trevor Noah’s mantle

Noah won his first Emmy Award two years ago for The Daily Show: Between the Scenes. In addition, he received the South African Comics’ Choice Award for Comic of the Year back in 2012.

Trevor Noah can also boast with three NAACP Image Awards, a MTV Africa Music Award for Personality of the Year, and a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Talk Show Episode, among others.

The nominees for the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards were announced on Tuesday. The ceremony scheduled for Monday, 17 June. Voting is now open.

Notable MTV TV & Music Award Nominations

While Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse were added to the Best Movie category, Game of Thrones, Riverdale, Big Mouth and The Haunting of Hill House were nominated for Best Show.

In addition, Lady Gaga received a shout for her performance in A Star is Born. Lupita Nyong’o was nominated for Red, and Rami Malek for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

TV actors Emilia Clarke, Gina Rodriquez, Jason Mitchel and Elisabeth Moss were nominated for Best Performance in a Show. Furthermore, the Best Hero Nominations went to Brie Larson, Maisie Williams and John David Washington, among others.

Of course, no list would be complete without Josh Brolin being nominated as Best Villian for his role of Thanos. Brolin goes up against Joseph Fiennes from The Handmaid’s Tale, Pann Badgley from You and Nyong’o for Red.
