Trevor Noah is returning to SA for new comedy series

Trevor Noah is making a “surprise” visit to SA.

Comedy superstar, Trevor Noah will be making his way back to South Africa for a new TV series soon to be aired on M-Net later this year.

Live recording for the show, titled Trevor Noah’s Nation Wild will take place over two days and begins on Wednesday, 4 April at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City and will feature some of the country’s top comedians as well as some relatively new names.

The Daily Show host announced the big news via his Facebook page on Sunday.

“I am surprising my hometown Joburg with a special TV taping with some of the funniest young comedians in all of SA,” he said.

The line-up is made up of Gav Kelly, Bongani Dube, Eric Jansen, Gilli Apter, Keenan Cerff, Lindy Johnson, Mbu Msongelwa, Mo Mothebe, Noko Moswete, Phil De Lange, Tsitsi Chiumya and Prins.

The Emmy Award-winner has also inked a movie deal for his best-seller, Born A Crime, which will be directed by South African, Liesl Tommy, starring Black Panther star, Lupita Nyong’o.

Nyong’o is also the movie’s executive producer in addition to playing the central role of Noah’s mother, Patrica.

Born A Crime will be also be shot entirely in South Africa, starting later this year. The date for filming is still yet to be confirmed.
