In October last year, Bennett Kaspar-Williams gave birth to a baby boy via caesarian section. The transgender man from Los Angeles has since spoken out about being misgendered by many people including the nurses who helped him give birth to his son. He has also slammed the nurses for associating motherhood with women after they called him mother.

37-year-old Bennet Kaspar-Williams has lashed out at the nurses who helped him give birth to his son in 2020. This is because the nurses called him ‘mom’ right after he birthed the boy via c-section.

Seven years ago, Bennet started his transition from a woman to a man. He then met the love of his life Malik who he married in 2019. The couple then decided to have children. And so, Bennet stopped taking the testosterone hormone so that his ovaries could start functioning again.

Soon after that, he was pregnant with baby Hudson.

While the couple were overjoyed that they were able to successfully bring their little one into the world, Bennet says the hospital experience was far from rosy because nurses kept misgendering him.

An unhappy dad

According to Bennet, nurses kept calling him “mother” despite the fact that he is flat-chested and has a full beard. He also said that people need to stop associating pregnancy with women.

“The only thing that made me dysphoric about my pregnancy was the misgendering that happened to me when I was getting medical care for my pregnancy.

“The business of pregnancy – and yes, I say business, because the entire institution of pregnancy care in America is centred around selling this concept of “motherhood” – is so intertwined with gender that it was hard to escape being misgendered,” he said in a Daily Mail article.
